Can anyone enlighten me on “Walsh of Islandbegg” I can’t find any reference to it other then Walsh of the Island! Are they the same? Walsh of the island is further south, east from Walsh of Islandbegg

Dear canuck
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
According to the Index of the Townlands and Towns of Ireland 1851, there are two Islandbeg townlands; one in Co. Donegal (parish of Clonleigh) and the other in Co. Galway (Parish of Ross). I would imagine that Walsh was a large landowner from one of these places perhaps. If you search the Survey just for land held by him what type of information appears?
Best wishes
Clare Doyle
