Have you tried researching the Clare Library Website? If not, they are well worth a look. http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm They have a lot of very good and useful information that is worth going through.
While there were a number of Leonard families listed in Griffith's Valuation, there is only one McManus family listed there in the parish of Kilchreest under Owen McManus. That might be a good parish to start with as most spouses would not have lived too far from one another.
