Looking for G G Grandparents

The 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing has a Richard Bradshaw in Lecarrow townland, Kilgeever civil parish. I checked the 1901 census and there were no Bradshaws in the townland of Lecarrow. Do you have any additional info on the family?

I checked Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie  and they have an 1855 baptismal record for a Bradshaw child with a father Richard and a mother Mary. However, the mother's surname is not Joyce.

All I have to go by is the Census 1871 Newcastle on Tyne England which records Richard born Mayo Ireland 1819, a widower with three children John ,Richard and Mary all born on Clare Island, have been told there is a baptism record for Mary at Catholic Church I think 1858 was the year and mother was recorded as Mary Joyce.

Was he married to mary if so when and where and when and where did she die?

Richard died in Newcastle on Tyne in 1878 with son Patrick present.

According to England census Patrick was born 1850 Mayo  but can't find any record.

Patrick married Bridget Murray  in Newcastle on Tyne in 1868, she died in Childbirth in 1876 in Worcester Massachusetts. At some point he returned to Newcastle on Tyne and married Catherine Sweeney in 1879.

Have many unansered questions and need help I am an old lady trying to trace our family heritage.

Appreciate any assistance you are able to give me.

After you gave me the three childrens names, I checked the 1855 record I located and it was in the Clare Island RC records. Mary Bradshaw born to Richard Bradshaw and a  Mary.

Unfortunately, the Clare Island records start in 1851 so possibly John and Richard were born pre-1851 and the marriage was also before 1851.

Baptismal records for Kilgeever Parish which includes Clare Island is available online by going to the Accony School website at www.aconyschool.com . At the bottom of the home page, you can click on "Kilgeever Parish Baptism Records 1850-1922." Then, on the next page that appears, click at the very bottom where it says "Click here to see full list of Baptisms."

Your Mary Bradshaw is there with Richard Bradshaw and Mary Joyce as parents for the child's 10 Aug 1858 baptism. It lists LeCarrow as their home area. Two witnesses are also listed, plus two other Bradshaw children are listed for two 1852 baptisms with two different sets of parents and witnesses with different homeland areas listed.

My wife and I got to look through the old church record book for Kilgeever Parish that is kept at St. Patrick's RC Church in Louisburgh and there aren't many legible records before 1850. The parent's marriage and the baptisms of the two other children probably all fall before 1850 as mentioned in an earlier response. 

I am stuck with the same problem for my ancestors. You could email  Fr. Mattie Long at louisburghparish@eircom.net to see if he found any better records. Besides Roots Ireland mentioned in an earlier post, you could contact "The South Mayo Family Research Centre" at www.mayoroots.com/ to enquire if they would have records on your ancestors. If they do, you could purchase their report that they would create on your family's available records. It is costly, but may be well worth it when all else are brick walls.
