Looking for information regarding family of James Boyce and wife Mary Ann new Mease or Mays. Their son James born Stewartstown c 1827.  He moved to Old Monkland in Scotland sometime before marriage in 1857 and then emigrated to Australia in 1858.  Don't know if family all went to Scotland or whether he left as an adult alone.  Parents deceased before emigration.  Hoping to find evidence of burials of parents or other children baptised in Stewartstown area.

  • Hi cmcmull

Unfortunately burial records were not well kept in parishes generally. Again, familysearch or rootisireland would be a help in any initial search for James. Earliest RC records for Donaghenry are available from 1849 for baptisms and 1853 for marriages. So if the family were RC there will be no parish records available. Church of Ireland records for that parish begin in 1734 for baptisms and 1811 but there are gaps in the series between 1769 and 1809.

There are 31 Boyce death/burial records available on rootisireland, but it would be difficult to say which, if any are your ancestor. At the same time, the fact that the name is not very common would be helpful to your search
