Hi there,
im currently researching my family history and it has led me to Monaghan. My great great grandfather Richard Greenan, I'm told , was born in Killygraggy(?) in Monaghan. His parents were Thomas and Catherine Greenan. I am trying to find out as much as I can about Thomas and Catherine. I believe they were born around 1835/1836 and in 1911 were listed as living at No 7 Killygraggy , Lisnaveane, Co Monaghan. Thomas was a farmer and Catherine a farmers wife. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

Hi Fiona
There are 2 marriage records of Thomas Greenan to a Catherine in Monaghan on www.rootsireland.ie/
One is 1839 & the other 1850
There is a list of parishes for Monaghan with the records but nothing like Killycraggy
I assume 1850 would be the only likely one given the birth years. There is a charge to view the full record but it will have the parish and MAYBE the parents' names

HI
many thanks for your reply. I will be sure to check out the record you mentioned. In the 1911 census it says they were married 48 years , making the year of marraige around 1863? I have been told though that records are not always accurate. I did find a record of a Thomas Greenan on Griffiths Valuation , I'm not very familiar with it but it did say parish of Ematris town land Lisnaveane. Seems like a likely candidate. I will look at the record you mentioned now and take it from there. Many thanks for your help
