My grandfather was born in 1861 in County Tyrone Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1875. His fathers name was also John and he married Mary Elkin in 1847 in Drumragh Parish. I believe my great grandfather was born in Scotland a son of Donald Moor around 1825. My sister will be making a trip to Ireland in October and if any of these names sound familiar to someone, I would love to find my Irish "cousins".

Dear cmoore
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Have you already tried familysearch, ancestry or rootsireland to find out more about John and Mary?
There is a marriage record available on rootsireland for Co. Tyrone in 1847. You may already have all of this info though. As rootsireland is a subscription site, I am limited in what I can see. I can't see any baptism records for children born to this couple though.
There are a couple of Moor entries on the Flax Growers List 1796:

The website, Scotland's People is also very good:

Thank you for your reply Clare. Yes I did find the Marriage record of John and Mary Elkin. And I will be checking the other sites that you recommended. There are so many John Moores and so many ways to spell Moore. It gets very frustrating. Are there very many Moores in Omagh or even the whole county of Tyrone. My search has been facinating so far. Maybe someday I'll be able to find my
Irish cousins.. Thank You again. -
Best of luck, keep us updated!
