Hello! I am researching my mother's paternal line of Enrights from County Clare. Her ancestor Thomas Enright came to America around 1856. Thomas would have been about age 3-5. I do not know his parents name. He lived in Illinois and was married to Ella Buckley. I am interested in any Enright's that have a Thomas Enright that may fit this description. I'm attaching his obituary from the Rock Island Argus newspaper as reference. Thank you in advance.

Hi Shanon
There are 2 baptism records for Thomas Enright in Clare 1853 on www.rootsireland.ie/ - a site which requires payment. I don't know whether it's the same record twice but both are from Ennis RC parish.

Hopefully if you purchase the record it will have his father or both parents' names - some do and some don't I'm afraid.

Transcripts of records for Ennis/Drumcliff RC parish are available free from their website - there are two separate Tom Enright baptisms listed in the parish that year . One with parents Michael & Bridget, the other with parents Tom and Catherine.
Might be worth chasing up a US marriage and/or death cert for your Tom Enright to check if these include parents names, and then see if either of those baptisms might be the correct one.

Thank you! Thomas died in 1900 so I will see if I can get his death certificate. I have his marriage license information but it is just a register and doesn't have parent's names. I am working with the diocese to obtain their marriage sacrament document but it appears that the church is missing documents for the 1870s and Thomas and Ella were married in 1878.
When Irish left Ireland from County Clare, was there a port they generally left from? Would they have left with just one parent or as a whole family?
