Do you know if Bernard had any brothers and sisters? A search for children born to Owen and Mary may bring up a known name and confirm a relationship to Bernard. Have you managed to find Owen's civil marriage record, it should name both parents?

Thanks for your reply (to which I should have responded a long time ago!)

I have, elsewhere on this website, reported that I have found a marriage record for Owen Cunningham and Mary Callan and a baptism record for their son Bernard, who would possibly be my gggrandparents and my ggrandfather.  Both records are from Donaghmoyne parish and both are dated 1 Jan 1845. Is this as accurate a record I will get for this parish at that time?

Locating a parish record this early is a good find. There won't be a civil birth or marriage record as civil registration doesn't start until 1864.

Thanks for your reply. It seems I must assume I have the right people and have gone as far as I can go.

Unless you can 'go wide' and see what comes of a search of the wider branch perhaps the son's family as sometimes you find that early info is provided in later records
