Good morning All and greetings from Millingandi, Pambula, New South Wales, Australia.

I am seeking information about Timothy Shea, son of John Shea and Margaret Sullivan, who left County Kerry in about 1847, and migrated to America with his brother, name unknown, and later migtated to Australia on the RED GAUNLET, arriving in Port of Melbourne , Victoria, Australia on 29 June 1857 with his wife to be Honora Walsh from Count Tipperary.

Family legend says he was born in Sneem about 1831/ 32.

The only Timothy Shea I can find born that year to John and Margaret Shea was inthe Parish Killorglin.

John Shea appears as a witness to just about every marriage in Ballyferriter around 1830`s.

Hoping you can help in finding Parish he might have been baptised in.

Bernard Shea, aged 69 ,great grandson of Timothy .

If Timothy was baptized in the Sneem RC church, the records are likely not available. Sneem records do not start until 1845.

Sneem is in the civil parish of Kilcrohane. However, there are so many John Sheas, it will be very difficult to look at the land records e.g. Tithes and Griffiths to find the father of Timothy There were 15 John Sheas in the Griffiths for Kilcrohane parish.

Let me know if you have questions.
