My Malone ancestors (the children of Michael b.abt 1813 and Bridget [nee Stritch] b abt 1812) came to Australia from Ogonelloe, some to Sydney & some to Melbourne.  Later - after Michael died - Bridget herself came to Australia, but she died 3 years later, aged 75, in Melbourne.   I would like to know if anyone else may be researching this family's history

  • Katherine:

I'm not researching Malones personally but if you go to the top right hand corner of this page to the right of the Donate button enter Malone and you will see all the messages that have been posted with the surname Malone. You might get lucky and see a possible connection.

Second, later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching. I would review the Ogonnelloe records at that time to see if you can add to your family history.

  • Katherine,

I have done a fair bit of research on this family mainly because of the connection to the Mulcahys of Ogonnelloe,

  • MichL, I have Ellen I Mulcahy in my tree -- any connection?  I've only one, but whole bunch of Mulcunry and Mullaney.

    Any McNamara in your research?

    Thanks

  • Hi Paddy, Katherine,

Cousin Mick L knows his stuff. He'll tell you that:

    • Ellen (aka Nellie) MULCAHY b. 1849 Ballynagleragh, Ogonelloe m. Michael JOYCE Nebraska, USA d. 1924 USA

That's our great, great aunt. Our common great grandmother was Catherine MULCAHY, sister to said Ellen: born of Timothy (Thady) MULCAHY and Mary COSTELLOE, Ballynagleragh, Ogonelloe.

What he knows of Malone's and McNamara's he'll get back to you on.

I'm just pleased to be in the conversation :-)

    cheers,

    Barb
