Seeking information about the families of Patrick Leary who left Ireland in 1858. His wife Catharine (Flood) Leary remained in Ireland with four sons ( until approximately 1873. I think that Catharine's father was Martin Flood. Patrick's father may have been Moses (Mogue). They rented land from someone named Blacker in the Killan parish area.

Patrick may have been born in 1811. Catharine was probably born in 1821.

I would appreciate any information.

    Address: Not Recorded Parish/District: Templetown

    Denomination: Roman Catholic
Father: John Leary Mother: Johanna Haddock
    Occupation:

If the Learys were from Killann civil parish the RC parish would be Rathnure. Records for that parish start in 1846 but they are not on Roots Ireland. Later this summer the National Library of Ireland plans to place all RC parish registers online for free searching.I would review the Rathnure register at that time.

The 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of Household listing for Killann parish lists two Patrick Leary entries. One in Grange Upper and the other in Springmount townland. I note there are a number of Flood entries in Grange Upper so I presume the Patrick Leary in Grange Upper is your ancestor.
