Hi all,
My dad is trying to trace our family back to its roots in Ireland.
So far he has traced it from Queensland, Australia to Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland
We are currently unable to find date of birth, marriage or death information for Robert Barrett and Johanna Savage
Robert and Johanna had 6 children
Mary Barrett - Birth 5 May 1806 in Banebuee, Tralee, Kerry, Ireland
John Barrett - Birth 24 August 1811 in Bawnbee, Tralee, Kerry, Ireland
Joanna Barrett - Birth 6 January 1822 in Ballinoulorth, Tralee, Kerry, Ireland
Ellen Barrett - Birth 20 May 1824 in Ballinoulorth, Tralee, Kerry, Ireland
Margaret Barrett - Birth 17 March 1828 in Tralee, Kerry, Ireland
Thomas Barrett - Birth 16 October 1818 in Banebee, Tralee, Kerry, Ireland
We are descendants of Thomas Barrett
If you have any information please let me know, Thank you!!

The records for Tralee RC church go back to 1772 but I did not find a marriage record for Robert and Johanna. I did see the baptismal records for the children. Since marriages were usually in the bride's church, I'm wondering if the marriage was in a different church and the records for that church no longer go back to the very early 1800s.
I believe the family lived in Bawnboy townland in Clogherbrien civil parish. Here is the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Clogherbrien civil parish.

Civil registration of deaths did not start until 1864. I did not find a record for a Robert or Johanna Barrett in the Tralee registration record,

Dear Natalie, this appears to be the marriage of Joanna, daughter of Robert, Bawnbee

5 sons born in the 1840's
It may be worthwhile checking this line out as it moves forward as they may be of the same line as you.
There is a Robert Barrett, Bawnboy in Griffith's Valuation (c.1850) showing 16 returns.
There are also 10 returns for Barrett, Bawnboy in the 1901 Census
Do let me know if anything comes of it or if you have any problems with the search.
Warm wishes
