My ancestors came from Broadford. My 2 x great grandmother was Bridget Kearney/Carney born c. 1843. She came over to South Africa in 1861 with the Aided Immigration to the Cape together with the following Kearney'/Carney's - James, Patrick (with his wife Catherine Shaughnessy), John (with his wife Mary Toolan) and Edmond. On the passenger list it shows KEARNEY
I am trying to ascertain whether they were siblings or not and also to perhaps find a baptism for them. James died in South Africa and on his Death Certificate it shows James CARNEY - Parents Michael & Mary CARNEY (nee Naughton). His son Michael signed the Certificate as CARNEY.
I'd appreciate any help
Thanks

Hi Felix
Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.
I will be in the Local Studies Centre in Ennis next week and I can take a look at the parish registers for you then. It might be a help to you to go over the information that is available through the Clare County Library website. They have put on a lot of very useful information including passenger lists, headstone inscriptions, etc. Their link is: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm.
If you have any further information that you think may be of help, please email me at: tulla@irelandxo.com.
Kind regards,
Jane.
