I am looking for my Great Grandfather's roots. His gravestone reads "In memory of William Jennings, Died May 7, 1897 Aged 86 y'rs 6 mos. & 7 days, born in Lough Gilly Co. Armagh Ireland"  and his bride Bridget, Born Co. Cavan Ireland Died Aug 29, 1902

  • You don’t say what denomination William Jennings was but I’ll assume RC. If so then unfortunately that parish has no baptism records earlier 1825 so you won’t find his baptism.

    You might just find his marriage (if that’s where he married) but tradition was to marry in the bride’s parish. I see she came from Cavan. Do you know where in Cavan? Again though you may meet the problem that the parish records just don’t start early enough. There are 3 Jennings households in Griffiths Valuation around 1860, a Pat in Derlett and Robert & John both in Drumcrow. Their descendants appear there in the 1901 census, as do some other Jennings in the county.
