I have posted several messages on the message board about my family under the " Maloney's of Galway" over the years. I continue to search for the townland they lived in. Recently I found a Denis Mullowney in Griffith's Valuation in Cahercon, Killinny, County Galway. Also listed with Denis is a William Gregory. Denis' son Peter, my great greatfather, had 10 children with Sarah Gleason in Boston. They named one of their sons William Gregory. I'm hoping this is a connection.

The only information I have about my great, great grandfather Denis Maloney is that he married a Margaret Murray, both from County Galway, and they had at least 2 children, Peter, born about July 1, 1845 and Mary, born about 1849. Peter came to Boston through New York in about 1863. Mary also came but I'm not sure what year she arrived in Boston. I have no other dates for them in Ireland. Is their anyone who could see who this Denis Mullowney was married to? I have searched familysearch.org., find my past and many other sites with no luck in finding their townland.

    Thank you for your reply. I did see this information when the catholic records became availble last month, but I could find any Denis Maloney inorder to connect him to Margaret Murray. Very frustrating! When I went to some of the parishes on the National Library of Ireland website, the year Denis was born was not included. I haven't given up. I'll continue to look for my gggrandparents.

  • Still no luck searching the NLI for Denis Maloney's birth record (about July 1, 1845). Liam, you did find a Margaret Murray, parents John Murray and Mary Donelan, born May 9, 1819 in Kilricle/Kilreekil. I searched all around Kilrickle/Klireekil with no luck finding a Denis Maloney, to make a possible connection. I hope to visit Ireland again in Sept. 2017, hoping to go to the parish they lived in. Still trying to break through this brick wall.
