You can try looking for information Michael and Jane in church records. If you can find their marriage certificate it may give you their fathers? names. You may also be lucky and be able to find their birth records also.

Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42

Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.

Unfortunately, it will be harder to find records on Edward and Catherine without a more specific place of origin in Westmeath. Most Irish record sources are based on specific locations, usually a parish, without this it is difficult to find information.

You could try looking for record of the families in the land acts pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. These do not give any genealogical information but can sometimes be used to tie a person to a specific place. There are two:

and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

Also, the  Immigration Museum in Buenos Aires run by the Department of the Interior has individual cards with the names of Irish immigrants stored in their archive. Perhaps you may be able to find more information about place of origin here. Firstly I apologize for my English. I don’t write it good enough.

I found Michael Dillon and Jane Lawler’s marriage record in a FHL. Unfortunately, Michael and Jane’s parents aren’t mentioned. I didn’t find Michael and Jane’s parents in Argentine records.

I forgot to mention that all my Irish ancestors were Catholics.

I already knew the first webpage that you mention, but I didn’t know the others two. Thank you for the information.

The Argentina’s immigration records don’t give the place of origin until 1920.

The 1840’s immigration records neither give the immigrant’s age. By this reason, isn’t possible to be sure if certain person is which I’m looking for or a homonym.

I have a question, is there any website where I can find the names of Ireland catholic churches? I try to find any but I couldn't find it.

I found this website that links you to all the Catholic Dioceses in Ireland. If you click on each one it takes you to that Diocese webpage from where you can then click on the individual parishes that are in each one. This is probably the best way to see what Catholic churches there are, as I don?t think there is just one list.

You could also try http://www.thecatholicdirectory.com/ Do a search for Ireland and it brings up a list of the dioceses again giving the names of each church in it.

I'm Jesica from Argentina. 

I have 4 Dillon lines in the fam, and even do I can't quite pin point a realtionship between u and I (my fam also shows on genealogiairlandesa.com ... and some of my Dillons were also from Westmeath) wanted to tell you that, 20 min away from my home in Buenos Aires, lives a very old lady called Eddie Elsie Dillon, born in Jovita in 1932, who does show on your tree.

You may have already found this since you first posted but just in case see the following link for the grave of an Edward Kennedy and a Catherine Kearney in St Owen's Cemetery in Ballymore Co. Westmeath:

It mentions a daughter Elizabeth.

Thank you very much for your message. Yes, it is indeed them. I was able to verify this thanks to the fact that Elizabeth's sister married in Argentina, and then she returned to Ireland, settling in Ballymahon, next to Ballymore. It was a surprise to discover that the Kennedy-Kearney family was also from Ballymore.

My great great grandmother was Eliza Dillon c1788-1848 (married James Jordan c1800-1872, from Rathskeagh townsland, Ballymore, Co. Westmeath before 1826)

My great great grandfather was Daniel Kearney c1817-1903, from Clonavee townsland, Ballymore, Co. Westmeath (married Catherine Gibney c1815-1885 before 1832)

Can't say there is any connection between your Dillon and Kearney and my Dillon or Kearney but if I find anything more I think you might find useful I'll let you know.

Thank you very much for your message. At this time I also cannot tell if there is a connection between our ancestors. If one day I can find the death certificate of my 4th grandparents Michael Dillon and Jane Lawler in Argentina, maybe I will move forward another generation and connect them with other families in Ballymore.
