Looking for Shea/O’Shea that might still be in Kilrush, County Clare or other area whose relatives emigrated 1880’s to San Francisco, California USA. My great great grandparents, Patrick Shea and Margaret O’Brien had at least 5 children born in 1860/70’s who came to San Francisco: 1. My great grandmother, Hanorah Agnes “Nora” O’Shea McManus 1860-1942; John Shea 1865-?; Patrick O’Shea 1867-1947; Anne Shea Galbally 1868 -?; & Margaret Shea 1874-1909. We are visiting Ireland July 17 to July 30 to meet with great grandfather McManus relatives and would be pleased to discover more about great grandmother's side

Hi again,
Do you know the name of the town or townland in Kilrush that the family came from?

No, don't know the town. We found Kilrush in Margaret's 1909 San Francisco obituary and Anne & John's birht/christening records on familysearch.com. Thank you for your kind assistance.

Our volunteer,Kay, has come back with the following information:
There Is a marriage of Patrick O'Shea and Margaret O'Brien on 24/01/1852 in the Kilrush parish index but no baptisms. This would lead me to believe that maybe lived in town land outside Kilrush and baptisms held in local church. I will have a look at Ancestry see if I can find anything else.

We're in Kilrush now. We went to parish church, St. Senan's, and baptism index showed 4 more sibs and a different date of birth 5 yrs earlier for great grandmother. Priest did not find any marriage record for Pat & Margaret. Is it possible to see more about 1/24/1852 marriage somewhere? The oldest previously unknown sib, Daniel, was born 7/22/1852. We leave Kilrush tomorrow, but it's been a rewarding and fun trip thanks to the many volunteers like yourselves and the folks we've met along the way.
