        I grew up in Glebe Donohill parish close to Silverhill townland. Approx when was Andrew  born married before or after emigration.

Hi Seamus!  I must say I envy you growing up where you did.  Andrew was born about 1775 give or take a few years, I'm guessing here, based on when his daughter married (1824).  Andrew never left ireland as far as I know, it was his daughter Alice who married Cornelius (Connor) Ryan who came to the US.  They were living in Churchfield at the time of their marriage, sometimes referred to as "the Churchfield of Donohill".  Sounds like you must be quite near there.  After that they moved to Golden Garden and Alleen, not  sure which one, the record just says Alleen.  Thaks so much for answering my post.  Maybe you could tell me what it's like around there, any mountains visible that sort of thing.

Picture postcard- Silverhill a 4 acre hillock which was used a gravel pit in the 70's by Kelly & Gleeson company. It is part of GLEBE TOWNLAND 1850 ( means churchlands as old Kilmucklin church was located there. The 1850 griffith valuation website map & current satelitte images shows the remant imprint of same and shows silverhill on the old map. The area is dotted with these little hillocks of glacial deposits of sand, grave, stones interpersed with little ponds in the low areas. The glacial deposits were laid at the end of the glacier melt which came from the Slieve Felim Mountains 10 miles north. On the south side of the valley you can the see the higher Galtee mountains 20 miles away. Churchfield over a mile away near Donohill village has a cemetery with an old church remains close to St. James pattern well going back to pagan times ~ it claims to have cure for eyes. Across the road is a remarkable motte built by the Normans in 1200's ~ 120 foot conical hill with two platforms  and rings circling around the hill. John O'Dwyer farms here currently. Goldengarden and Alleen neighbouring townlands are only a mileaway as the crow flies. Hurling is a popular game locally and I would have played with Tom, Seamus, PP, Michael O'Dwyer Knockgorman next TOWNLAND to Churchfield and Jerry and John O'Dwyer Cloonmalonga  (Cluen) only 100 metres from Silverhill.
