Armstrong family of Tirquin

I note from the revaluation records that Robert?s farm on plot 14a changed tenants to Joseph Armstrong in 1864. Then in 1882 he left and was replaced by a James Monteith. Don?t know if you have that information.

Christopher Armstrong had a house only on plot 6b. (Presumably he?s a relation). His name remains against that property till 1924 when he is replaced by William Gynne.

The former Armstrong farm appears in the 1901 census (by then Monteith) and from the information in it, you can tell that it had brick or stone walls, 5 or 6 rooms, was probably thatched, and had 3 windows at the front.

There?s a John Armstrong, widower, in Tirquin in the 1911 census. Don?t know where he fits in.

Gosh, this is all new information. Thank you very much for the quick post to my inquiry.

Of course, this opens up a whole new line of inquiry for me -- about who was the "Joseph" who took over Robert's lease and ran it until 1882.

I knew of Christoper, but have not figured out what his relationship is to Robert or to John.

It is wonderful to learn that we had Armstrong family in Tirquin until as late as 1924.
