Thomas Moffit, 21, Bachelor, Farmer, of Roscavey Parish of Clogherney (father, Samuel Moffit,, Farmer) MARRIED 12 November 1857 at Clogherney Meetinghouse, Mary Orr, Full Age, Spinster, of Curr Parish of Clogherney (father, Matthew Orr, Farmer) according to a certified copy of an Entry of Marriage from the Registrars District of Omagh.
This couple had two known children born in Ireland before they moved to Scotland, being:
1) Elizabeth born about 1858
2) Catherine born 27 Aug 1864 at Curr according to a certified copy of an Entry of Birth issued in the District of Sixmilecross, Omagh (Thomas shows as dwelling in Scotland at this time.)
It would be exciting to find Elizabeth's birth/baptismal record as she is my direct ancestor. It would be equally exciting to discover the same information for both Thomas Moffit and Mary Orr.
I could go on and on but don't want to appear too greedy! Any clues or assistance from those of you out there reading this message would be gratefully appreciated.
Sincerely, Barb Byette

Barb:
I looked at www.familysearch.org but could not locate a civil birth record ( civil registration began that year). I did locate two church baptismal index records. Does not indicate what church but appears she was born August 27th and baptized September 11.

According to the PRONI guide, Clogherney Meeting House?s baptism records only start in 1865. (Marriages 1845). Though it looks as though they must have some 1864 records judging by Roger's information. So assuming that was where Elizabeth was baptised it looks as though you won?t find her baptism record. Presumably the earlier records have been lost (not an uncommon problem with church records). There?s a copy of the surviving records in PRONI, Belfast. It might be worth checking them all the same to see when they do start.
Griffiths Valuation for 1860 has an Eliza Moffett in Roscavey townland. She lived on plot 27b and had a half share of 13 acres of land. She left in 1875. When a woman is listed it often indicates she was a widow. Perhaps she was Samuel?s wife? (If Thomas died in Scotland, his death certificate should list his parents? names).
Mathew Orr?s farm is listed in Griffiths for 1860. It was plot 12 in Curr, consisting of a farmhouse, outbuildings and 6 acres. It changed to Eliza Orr in 1872 and then to Samuel Love in 1878. Plot 12 today is on Rock Rd, which is off the A5 5 or 6 miles south of Omagh.
