My great grandfather, Edward Alcock, was born in Castledermot in 1825. He joined the army in Waterford in 1845 and I have located much information on him after that. I am hoping to learn more about my Irish roots - his brothers, sisters, mother, etc. HIs records from England show his father to be Thomas Alcock who was a letter carrier for Irish Post.
I believe they were Church of Ireland.
That is about all I know about my Alcock ancestors in Ireland and am looking for anything that might help me learn more.
Thank you.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I checked Roots Ireland and they do not have Church of Ireland records for Castledermot on their data base. I would contact the Church of Ireland Diocese of Meath and Kildare and see if they can assist with records for Castledermot.
The 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing does not show any Alcock records.
