Hi there!
I'm doing some family research and am looking for information about my great-grandfather: Daniel J. Hurley of Doolin. As far as I know, he came to Canada in the 1930s. The year of his birth is a bit hazy. He was most likely born between 1901 and 1911. He passed away in 1973 in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. Any information available about the family would be amazing! I hope to visit one day in person and meet some of my relatives who are still in Doolin :)

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Do you know if Daniel came from a large family? The only Daniel Hurley birth record in Co. Clare that occurred between 1901 and 1911 was in 1904. The 1911 census record for that family showed 10 children and they lived in a parish (Kilfarboy) which is about four parishes south along the coast from Doolin. This may not be your Daniel and there are no other birth records in Clare after 1904 for a Daniel Hurley.

Wow, thank you Roger! He did come from a large family. I also see on the list you linked to that one of the siblings is Anthony, and I know Daniel did have a brother by that name. It's entirely possible this is the right Daniel.
I'm not sure why they would be listed in a different parish, but it's fascinating none the less.
Is there any way to learn more about this particular family on the census?
Thank you so much for your response!!! :D

I note from the 1911 census that the father John was a caretaker. Perhaps he moved after 1911 to take care of a farm near Doolin. I did locate the 1901 census for the family. Also, found a possible civil marriage index record in the Ennistymon registration district. Without getting a copy of the record, you can't verify if this is the correct John and which of the three Marys he married.
I checked the current online Irish phonebook http://www.eirphonebook.ie/# and I see one Hurley listing in the Doolin area. Our privacy rules prevent us from sharing the info but you can go to the link and search . Only a small portion of phone users are in the phonebook. Make sure you use the Residential TAB,
You do need to visit Doolin. It is a beautiful area not far from the Cliffs of Moher and there are four pubs with great traditional Irish music. Gus O'Connors is my favorite.
