Hugh Connell

My mother's father, Hugh J. Connell, was born in Gortloney, Oldcastle on Jan. 1, 1867 and immigrated to the USA in 1881 at age 14 yrs. His parents were Patrick and Margaret McGovern Connell. Patrick was born in 1830 and Margaret was born in 1836. Patrick's father was Edward and Edward's father was another Hugh. I have been to Oldcastle several times and have been to the priest's house and looked up some information. I have more information here but it is past midnight so will look it up later. Margaret's mother was Margaret Sheridan and I believe that Edward Connell's wife was Mary Carpenter. Hugh had six siblings, but they all immigrated to USA so no close relatives left. My grandfather died in 1912 at age 45 and my mother was very young so I don't know too much. I met Ned Connell (RIP) some yrs. ago and he was from Gortloney and his father's name was Hugh so I have always wondered if there was some connection. I am friends with Ned's wife, Rita, and his daughter, Pauline. Met them while I was searching for my "roots."  Thank you very much.
