  • Hi Sue:  I see the new message.  Hopefully Tina will contact you or me at:  tulla@irelandxo.com. In the meantime, I have a name of a local man who may be able to assist you when you arrive to Ogonnelloe.  I have a message to him & expect to hear in a day or two. Will you co tact me at:  tulla@irelandxo.com so that I can share email details?  Thanks. Jane

    Hi Everyone -

I am here in Clare and yesterday my brother Jim and I visited Ogonnelloe parish.  Michael and Martha McNamara opened their home to us, and Mike did quite a bit of research before we arrived.  He gave us a lot of information not only on our family, but on the way of life in Clare from old times to modern.  He told us why every family would have owned a goat for instance, and how wonderful it was when electricity came to the area.  Michael took us to the the family grave site, which was a beautiful place on a tranquil hillside overlooking the valley and the Shannon River.  He also showed us the old family homestead, which would have been in our family for many generations.  The man who owns the property now was very gracious and invited us in to look around.  The whole experience was very emotional, and exceeded our expectations.  The most surprising thing, though, is that we still have cousins living in Ireland.  We will try to meet up with them this trip.  None of this would have been possible without Ireland XO, and the kindness and diligence of the McNamaras.  I have traveled many places all over the world, but this trip has touched my heart because it has given me insight into the people and the place we came from, which helps to inform who we are.  Wonderful.
