Hi, My name is Therese Caine. I am coming to Co Clare in Sept 2016. I am trying to find informatioon about my GGF Cornelius Kane born about 1840/1844 and coming to Aus in abt 1866. He maried Margaret Kenna from Scariff in Australia. Cornelius's parents were Patrick Kane and Mary Murray. But maybe her name was Bridget Mary or Mary Bridget! His parents name is all we know for sure, as it is on his marriage certificate. However he couldnt write so others interpreted his word.
It's possible he had siblings - Denis, John, Bridget, Catherine, Margerat, Mary. But their mother is Bridget as per the catholic registers.Their father is Pat, as is Cornelius's father.
Would love to hear from anybody who may be able to help. Are there any volunteers for this Parish?
Best wishes

Therese:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I searched the new integrated RC parish data base on Find My Past (subscription site). I searched for all the Kane (or variant surname) There were 47 baptismal records mostly Kane There was no Cornelius. I did see a number of records where the parents were Patrick Kane and Bridgte Murray. Also, saw an 1839 Bridget Kane record with parents Cornelius Kane and Mary Murray. There is an 1836 Bridget Murray with parents Pat Kane and Bridget Murray. (see below). Also, a Denis and John (see below) with parents Patrick and Bridget as parents.
Let me know what questions you have.

Hi Roger, tks for reviewing that data. I have seen it also.
Corney Kane and Patrick Kane, and their wives, are having babies at the same time - 1830s. Pat and Bridget got married in 1833 - on parish register but cant see this on new FMP registers. I dont know about Corney and Mary Murray.
Key questions:
Are Corney and Pat related?
Are Mary and Bridget related?
Could Bridget, married to Pat, have a full name of Bridget Mary or Mary Bridget, as on my GGF's marriage cert, he says his parents are Patrick and Mary!
Is there information available about Patrick and Corney's parents and about the Murray girls?
Thankyou, Roger

Therese:
Since the Tomgrany records start in 1832, I don;t think there would be any records unless they (Cornelius. Patrick et al ) were baptized in a different church where records exist back to 1810 or earlier. The only parish that goes back that far is Cratloe.
Good possibility that Cornelius and Patrick were borther and married sisters.
