I am trying to track down our GG Grandfather William John Eccles. He served in the Argylle and Sutherland Highlander Regiment and died in Longford in 1873. I have found a William Eccles in the Griffiths Valuation in 1855 in Crawford Lane, Off Market Sq, Longford. Any help would be appreciated.

Wendy:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Below is the death index record for William. Maybe if you obtained a copy of the record from the General Register Office, it might show the same address? Copies cost around 4 euros. If you need instructions, let me know.

Wendy:
Go to this link https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx Print out the death form and fill it out to the best of you ability. Include the information from the index record. Make sure you check the box for copy only. You have to mail the request to Ireland (address provided when you print the form.) You can ask GRO to e-mail the copy back to you. I provide a credit card number and have not had any issues.

Dear Wendy,
I have just discovered and signed up to Ireland Reaching Out.
I have seen your post back on 11th June 2013 relating a baptismal register of a Church in Collinstown, Westmeath for a Richard Talbot, born 1846, abode Barbavilla and his father John Talbot's occupation is a steward and John's wife is Eliza McIntosh. You also mention Eliza's McIntosh name has been used in subsequent second names .
I would be most interested if you were able to connect with me.
I have had dna matches with a number of John & Eliza (nee Mcintosh) Talbot, with son Richard Talbots descendants from New Zealand.
The interesting thing is I am descended from an Alexander Mcintosh and his wife Ann Mcintosh (maiden name unknown), where Alexander was a steward and gardener for the Earl of Wicklow at Shelton Abbey, near Old Kilbride, Arklow, Wicklow.
Was Eliza possibly a daughter of Alexander & Ann 's ? DNA supports this as a possibility, the commonality as land stewards, but lack of records don't !
I would very much appreciate your thoughts, suggestions.
Kind Regards,
Lance
