Patrick Kelly and Mary Perdue Kelly were married November 5, 1845 in the Catholic Church in Killenaule. The parish register shows that Mary Perdue was from "Fookstown", really Foulkstown. Since Perdue is a French Huguenot name, I was wondering if there are any Perdues still in the Foulkstown area that may be related?
Patrick and Mary had the following children, who immigrated to the United States and settled in and around the Irish section (Corn Hill) of Utica, New York sometime after late 1860's. I can't find that Patrick and Mary ever immigrated to the U.S.
Children:
Dennis Kelly - baptised September 28, 1848, Buffana, Templemore, Killenau, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary, Ireland; NLI Catholic Parish Registers - Killenaule microfilm 02494/03
Bridget Kelly - born supposedly in 1850 but have not found her baptizmal records as of yet.
John Kelly - baptised March 2, 1851, Morgobaun (spelling), Killenaule, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary, Ireland; NLI Catholic Parish Registers - Killenaule microfilm 02494/03; My great grandfather.
James Kelly - baptised April 23, 1854, Boherlahan, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary, Ireand; NLI Catholic Parish Registers - Boherlahan microfilm 02504/03
Mary J. - baptised March 26, 1856, Boherlahan, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary, Ireland. NLI Catholic Parish Registers - Boherlahan microfilm 02504/03
Ellen Kelly - baptised June 27, 1858, Buffana, Templemore, Killenaule, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary, Ireland; NLI Catholic Parish Registers - Killenaule microfilm 02494/04
Kate Kelly - baptised September 2, 1860, Buffana, Templemore, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary, Ireland; NLI Catholic Parish Registers - Killenaule microfilm - 02494/04
Michael J. Kelly - baptised September 28, 1862, Buffana, Templemore, Killenaule, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary, Ireland; NLI Catholic Parish Registers - Killenaule microfilm 02494/04
Patrick and Mary Perdue Kelly are my 2X's great grandparents. As a child my mother made me memorize the names of the family members, @ dates of birth and that the family originated in Tipperary, Ireland. From finding the baptizmal records I have come to the conclusion that the main parish was Killenaule. The family however did seem to move about Tipperary regularly...most likely due to the potatoe famine and I would guess, my 2X's great grandfather's occupation...which is unknown to me.
From searching the U. S. records, I have Collin's, Roache's, McKenzie's, Dwyer's, Ross's, McCormick's, Mulligan's and Digman's, in addition to the Perdue's and Kelly's. For now I am concentrating on the Perdues and Kelly's. Mary Perdue Kelly had either a brother or nephew William Perdue, that immigrated to the same area in Utica, New York. I have newspaper clippings of family reunions, births, marriages and deaths and the Kelly's, Perdue's, Mulligan's, Roache's, Collin's and Dwyer's are always together.
Do the parish records at the church level contain the Marriage Banns - read three consecutive Sunday's prior to a wedding? If so, do they reference the parents of the bride and groom? How can I get actual copies of these records?
Where can I begin to search now that I have somewhat pinpointed the location of my 2X's great grandparents?
Sorry this is such a long post but it has taken years to find the marriage and batizmal records. This has been such a thrill I could dance for months!
Sincerely,
Susan Klinkert Wesley

Below may be the baptismal record for Mary Perdue. The record is in Killenaule. The Killenaule records go back to 1742 with some gaps. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0275 I doubt that banns from 1845 would be retained unless you can find them on the register. The Perdue family lived in Silverfort townland which is in Magorban civil parish to the west of Killenaule.

Hi Roger,
Thanks so very much for your swift response. I was googling the name Perdue on the internet and came across the "irelandxo" site. There was a request from December 15, 2015 - someone was searching for Perdues in Morgoban about the same time my Pat and Mary Perdue Kelly livved there. I was unable to sign in to 'irelandxo" from the the inquiry posted out on the web so I had to go back to the original "irelandxo"site and sign in. Now I can't locate the post inquiring about Perdues in Margoban. Is there anyway I can search the "irelandxo" site to find this post by the december 15, 2015 date and the last name of Perdue? I may have found a family connection. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Susie Wesley

Hi Roger,
Yes, thanks for checking, I did recieve your post.
My next question for you. I had read that residents of the UK, overall, before they emmigrated to another country, had to fill out paperwork requesting that the government allow them to emmigrate. I have also read that regarding the Irish Catholics, the governmant realy didn't care what happened to them and if they left Ireland, so be it...it was considered a good thing.
I just don't understand how any family could leave without some documentation trail within their homeland. I have been searching the incoming vessel lists for the port of New York and there were many Patrick Kelly's born @ 1821 (+/-) that emmigrated to the U.S. after 1862. Patrick Kelly - everyone has that name, lol.
Keeping the length of the voyage in mind and the planning necessary for a family or individual to make such a trip, those traveling just didn't go up to the local ticket office, buy a ticket and hop on the boat much like one would by a train ticket or pass in today's world?
If they did leave a papertrail, where could I begin to look on the Ireland/England side?
From research, I have gathered that the potatoe famine was not the only reason the Irish Catholic chose to leave Ireland. I came across one newspapaer article that listed the signers of a petition supporting anti-Catholic activities in the general locale and time period that my 2X's great grandparent lived. At least 12 Perdues had signed it (2X's great grandmother's maiden name)...one name was Peter, same as her father's. This really has me wondering. Is there an Irish website that has microfilmed the old newspapers? There is one in the U.S. called "old fulton postcards" - containes about 34 million pages of newsprint dating back to 1795. Most of it pertains to New York state but it also includes California, Illinios, Minnesota, etc. This is how I searched for the Kelly's once they came to America, This is also how I know they were a very tight knit family.
My mother told me all the stories when I was a young kid, about 10 years old. I remember most of them well, except for the date the family traveled to the U.S. If it was a spider, it would bite me!
I hope you don't mind my additional questions, you have been most hopeful and I am very grateful. Several genaerations of the family had been searching for any information on Pat and Mary Pedue Kelly for several decades. With your help, we can now say "found em"

Susie:
There are sites which have Irish newspapers from the 19th century. I have a subscription to Find My Past and they have newspapers on their site. There are also other sites but they may all be subscription sites.
Regarding records of emigration from Ireland there is not much info available. Let me e-mail someone from Tipperary and see if he has any insights on whether records may be available around 1870 or so.

My Tipperary contact (Tom Hussey) got back to me and below is his answer.
Roger:
I am not aware of any formal on line records of people leaving the County. There are a number of articles in the Tipperary Historical Journals of mass emigration from parishes in the County Tipperary. Clonoulty is one case where up to 600 emigrated to Australia in a relatively period of time.
