I am looking for information on my gg grandfather James Earls who married Ann Devlin in Avoca in 1839. They had 2 children as far as I've found, James my g grandfather (1845) and Jane (1843) born in Avoca. They were involved in mining but not sure which mines. The Wicklow Heritage Center has provided us with baptism records and marriage records on James and Ann and also the 2 children. We believe they came to the US around 1853-57 but have no evidence until we find my grandfather married to my grandmother, Bridget Kirby in 1872 and then in the 1875 Nevada Census. They go on to have 10 children and he is superintendent of mines around Utah, Nevada and Idaho. Any information would be helpful. Christy

Hi Christy
I couldn't find any other children in Wicklow on www.rootsireland.ie/; this was the only other one that came up:
Name:John EarlsDate of Birth:
Date of Baptism:09-Aug-1857Address:
Parish/District:KILLGender:
CountyCo. Waterford
Denomination:Roman Catholic
Father:James EarlsMother:Anne DevlinSponsor 1 /
Informant 1:Thomas KeilySponsor 2 /
Informant 2:Mary McGrathThere are 2 Earls in Waterford in Griffiths Valuation (free online) in 1851 - Henry & Bridget & a Margaret in Wicklow.
The 1851 Irish Census (free) has 24 Earls in the 1851 Census but all are in Antrim!
Better luck in the Tithe Applotments (free) which have 6 Earls in Wicklow in Castlemacadam in 1824 but it's a bit early to be of use for your question i guess.

Thank you so much for the information. That could possibly be our family so I'll look into them. They came over around that time and maybe they had moved to Waterford where our other family emmigrated from. I'll ckeck into the Apploments in Castlemacadam as I know his father James and borthers were there at that time. Thanks again, Christy
