Hello,
I am trying to find additional information about my great great grandparents, Hugh Keenan and Isabella Ferguson, who were married by Banns on 1 Feb 1845 in Manorhamilton, Cavan. According to the registry, both were said to be from Killinagh.
According to his death record in 1893 in Lasswade, Scotland, Hugh was born @ 1820. His parents were said to be Robert Keenan and Ann McQuade. Isabella also died in Lasswade. According to her 1900 death record, her parents were Robert Ferguson and Helen Buchanan.
According to the 1851 Scotland Census, Hugh and Isabella had two daughters who were born in Ireland; Mary (@1847) and Helen (@1848). While in Scotland the couple had six other daughters; Ann, Catherine, Jane, Christina, Rose Ann (may have been born in Ireland in 1861), and Isabella.
If anyone thinks they may have a connection to either the Keenans or the Fergusons, I would love to hear from them!
Thanks for your help!

Hello again!
Killinagh parish is in the northwest corner of Cavan bordering Leitrim. You mentioned Manorhamilton, Cavan but I'm wondering if it was Manorhamilton Leitrim. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manorhamilton I was not able to find the marriage record on Roots Ireland even though they have Killinagh RC records back to the 1700s. Manorhamilton/Cloonclare RC parish has records for marriages starting in 1850 five years after the marriage.
You may want to consider autosomal DNA testing ( I did not remember if I mentioned DNA on the prior response).

Hi again Roger,
Yes, that was a typo on my part. They were married in Manorhamilton, Leitrim and the record says that they were from Killinagh in Cavan. I found the marriage record on the Catholic parish registers on the NLI website.
It's funny you mention the DNA testing. I recently ordered the Ancestry DNA kit so I am anxious to see what it shows.
Thanks for your help!
Best,
John
