Hi there. My daughter is compiling a family history and we are trying to trace back a line of Dooleys from the Castleffrench estate townland of Cornadrum. We can go one generation back from Maria Dooley (b. 1890 Cornadrum) and Tim Naughton (b. 1895 Castleblakeney) both of Gowla, but then we hit a wall.
Maria Dooley's parents were John Dooley (b. 1832 Cornadrum) and Bridget Lohan (b. 1859 Newbridge) and Tim Naughton's were Owen Naughton and Elizabeth Lohan (b. 1867) from Caltra/Castleblakeney. If anyone is in possession of any futher info or can give advice, we would delighted to hear from you.

John and Anna:
Welcome to ireland Reaching Out!
Gowla townland is in Ahascragh civil parish. Here is the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for the parish. I see Naughton records but no Dooley records.Roots Ireland is currently down so I can't check for baptismal records. Below is a link to the Ahascragh/Caltra parish register where baptismal records start in 1840 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0535

Thanks Roger,
Those are great sites. The griffiths in particular graphically illustrates the impact of the famine on both populations and land/property. We will keep digging.
