I've recently traced my Hope family from New York back to Kilbride. My 4th Great Grandfather was Henry Hope, born: 1819, Rochfortbridge, Westmeath and died: 22 Nov 1892, Kilbride, Westmeath. He married Anne Cully who was born: 1826 (unknown) and died 30 Jan 1903, Kilbride, Westmeath. Henry's father was James Hope (1797-Jun 1882, Mullingar, Westmeath.)
Henry and Anne's children were: Mary Hope (1844), James Hope (1846-1919), Kate Hope Brennan (1848), Elizabeth Hope (1851), Ann Hope (1856), *Richard Hope (1859-1905), Henry Hope (1861), Teresa Hope Alford (1864-1927), Patrick Hope (1867).
*Richard Hope was my 3rd Great Grandfather. He moved to New York in 1881. His Daughter, Ella Hope was my great-great Grandmother. I have just one photo of her which I am attaching to this post.
If you are related or have any information that would be helpful, it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Roots Ireland has an 1824 baptismal record for an Anne Cully. Possibly this record is for your ancestor. Henry and Anne were married in Mullingar in November 1843. See below. In case you have not seen it, here is a link to the 1901 census record for Anne living with her son James and his wife.

Looks like I failed to include the 1901 census link. http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Westmeath/Carrick/Kilbride…

Hi Kera,
You are probably related to my wife, who is descended from Ellen Hope, who came from Rochfortbridge to Brooklyn, NY and I believe was the daughter of Henry or Harry Hope and Caty Bradbury/Bradburn. She married Michael Shea. Do those names ring any bells?

I do have an Ellen Hope that married Michael Shea in my Tree. Although I only have a "James" listed as her father. Ellen's brother, Henry Hope married Anne Cully and they are my 4th Great-Grandparents. I have recently discovered that Ellen & Henry's brother, Matthew J. Hope has children buried in Meedin Cemetery in Rochfortbridge. Although I cannot find any photos be sure.

I am the great grand daughter of Mary Hope who was married to Thomas Rooney, both are buried in Kilsharvan cemetry in Co Meath , Ireland. I am at present doing the genealogy of the family of the Rooneys as my grandfather Francis Rooney is somewaht of a mystery .he died aged 49 ..... no death certificate. I have traced a Richard Rooney ,his brother to ? New York , I have lots of information I would love to share ,mostly about the children of Mary Hope. So would love to hear from anyone who has a similar interest Emer O'Sullivan Keeling

Teresa Hope (Alford) and William Alford were my great grandparents. Their son (my paternal grandfather) was Ernest Alford (died 1981), and his son Brendan Alford Snr is my father. Most of Ernest's children have sadly passed away at this point but my father, aunt Angela Hyland and uncle Tony Alford still remain.
Teresa Hope and William Alford were married in Rochfortbridge on the 3rd May 1885. He was a Sergeant in the Royal Irish Constabulary but passed away for reasons unknown sometime in between the 1901 and 1911 censuses.
Hope this helps, and please reach out if there's anything else I can assist with.

Hello, Henry Hope and Ann Cully were my 2x Great Grandparents. Interested in finding anyone else that may be closely related and/or have information as to the location that they are buried.
Thank you!
