I recently found on Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915, what I believe is the baptism record of my great great grandmother Honora Quinlan b 1825.

It states her baptism took place: Galbally and Aherlow, Limerick and Tipperary, Ireland

Father was Patk ( Patrick) Quinlan and mother was Mary Hanrihan. I searched the mother's last name to check for spelling and found the name "Hanrahan". (I had no info prior to this find on Honora's mother's name, I had only Catherine from another record)  I attached the baptism record

Any info on the name Hanrahan?

I found a Latten Cullen parsh marriage record of Honora/Hanora to Patrick Ryan. 6 Sep 1853Marriage Place Cullen and Latten, Tipperary, Ireland   Here it states her parents are Patrick Quin and Catherine Quin ( not Quinlan)

  • Hi Patty
Patrick and Mary had four children recorded in Galbally and Aherlow Hannah(1825), Margaret(1827), Anne(1829) and Michael(1831).  The record for Anne contains the address Ballinamuddagh which is in County Limerick.
The Tithe Applotments of 1830 and Griffith's Valuation of 1851 both record a Patrick Quinlan in Ballinamuddagh.
There is an 1867 death certificate for Patrick Quinlan of Ballinamuddagh aged 80 giving him an approximate birth date of 1787.  Following his death the land he held in Ballinamuddagh was updated to "Michael Quinlan", presumably the one born in 1831.  Michael appears in the 1901 Census.

Here are some links to the records

  • Tim, thank you so much for the information. I have found during my reasrch over the years that variations in spellings and the use of first or middle name in records can make it difficult to know if the info you have found matches your realtives. In that, my question to you, in your opinion: I found Catherine listed as Honora's mother's name in the Latten and Cullen marriage record but in Honora's baptism record the mother is listed as Mary. Do you feel Mary and Catherine are the same? I was thinking if there is a record out there somewhere that has the use of both names together, but that is probably a longshot. Where could you direct me to find the record with Patrick and Mary's 4 children. Would that be a census record? Thank you so much again, Patty
