Greetings,
As my family was originally from Killenaule, Tipperary, and I am residing in California during these crazy political times, I'm wondering what the process is for immigrating to Ireland? As an Irish descendent, is it possible to obtain Irish citizenship so I can move to a country where intelligent, kind, supportive, and creative people live? Where the leader isn't a crazy lunatic who is trying to destroy the country and the planet? Any suggestions would be most helpful.

I am not an expert on Irish migration law, but my general understanding is that if your parents or grandparents were born in Ireland you may have a claim to Irish citizenship, which would allow you to get an Irish passport and thus unrestricted admission to Ireland (and the rest of the EU). If you don’t qualify on that basis, there are rules about applying for residence in Ireland.
The appropriate place to get accurate information, for a US resident, would be the Irish Embassy in Washington. But there are also official Irish Government websites that give details eg:
PS Lucky your surname is not Trump. That might possibly slow down your application.

Thank you Elwyn! My great grandmother immigrated so I wouldn't qualify on that basis. Will check out the link you provided. I think I'm pretty safe with Ryan as a surname!
