  • Dear EMC:

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and many thanks for your query to the message board.

I'm a little confused about your query as you stated that Mary is your grandmother born about 1883 and Michael is your grandfather born about 1851.

Are both of their surnames Dunne?  Will you clarify this as I will take a look for you.

    I look forward to hearing.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • So sorry - Michael isn't my grandfather ( that would be illegal)- I typed that in haste.

  • Dear EMC:

So, it is Mary Dunne that you are trying to trace?  Is that correct?

  • Yes, I know that Mary Married Michael McManus- they emigrated to the U.S. and she died in 1948. I'm interested in any relatives that still may be in the Fethard area. Thank you

  • EMC,

I took note of your message seeking information on the Dunne family in Tipperary.  I too am looking for a Dunne, Margaret Dunne.  She was my great-grandmother, my grandfather's mother.  He was born in or near 1899 and listed his parents as John O'Gorman / Gorman and Margaret as his parents on his New York application to marry.  He also stated that they lived in Thurles.  I was in Thurles in October and did a lot of searching.  I have not been very successful.

Im not familiar with the Fethard area.  Do you have any information on the Dunne family you are already know about?  Is it possible the Margaret you name in your initial inquiry, might be the one I am looking for as my family?

  • EMC,

Hello.  Have you made any progress on your Dunne family inquiry?  I was hoping maybe our searches might cross paths and we could be of help to one and other.

    Thank you for your time.

  • Hi,

I hope this message reaches you as I know this is an old thread.

My grandmother was Elizabeth Dunne from the townsland of Boolagh in Killusty, Fethard, Co.Tipperary.

Her father was Michael Dunne b.1892-d.1975 and her mother was Mary Corr.

From what I've uncovered so far, I think Micheal had six sisters and at least one brother.

    Sisters:

Alice b.1895-1896, Mary, Margaret, Hannah, Ellen, Eliza

    Brother:

    Edmond

Their parents were Michael Dunne and Alice Fox b.1849- d,1902

I hope this information is of benefit it to you and I'd love to find out if you are in someway connected to this family.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Fiona Taylor.

    Hi,

I'm hoping for information on my great, great grandmother Winifred Dunne McGrath, Born Jan 6, 1861, Died March 24, 1934. She was married in 1880 to John McGrath. McGrath is the one I can find no information on. John was born in 1856 and the 1900 census shows him in the USA in 1866 (in Seattle). But he went BACK to England sometime before getting married to Winifred in 1880. We can also see that Winnie lived with her mother shortly after they wed, but we can't find any military records that might explain this. We have one record showing he died in 1905 but its only a date and a cemetery name but he isn't listed there (could be its just not recorded digitally yet). His parents were Tim McGrath and Ellen Shudall.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
