Searching for information on John Shea and Julia Lynch families. I have found the records for John and Julia were married 10 Feb 1846 in Aghacurreen, Aghadoe parish, County Kerry and they had a child Bridget in Clasheen, Kilarney, County Kerry. This may be the family but so many people uses the same names I can't be positive. Her parents were Patrick and Julia Lynch.
Before immigrating to the US in about 1860, they had 2 more children possibly Martha in 1850 and Michael in 1849 in Milltown? I don't know why they were all over the place, was this typical?
There was a family rumor that the children were illegitimate and when the situation got too difficult Julia traveled to the US with the children where she, I believe, joined two brothers Michael and Edward Lynch in Manchester, CT. There is also evidence that she had a sister, Bridget?, who married a Falvey and had a son Patrick.
After settling in Tolland County, Connecticut, US Julia and John had 3 more children. In the US I have not found them listed together and each child seems to have been born in a different neighboring town.
This is one of my two brick walls and any help is appreciated!

Hello again!
You should continue to use www.irishgenealogy.ie to try to confirm connections. Milltown, Aghadoe and Killarney are all in the same general area so depending on the occupation of John Shea (migrant labourer?), the family may have moved around. I'm wondering if John Shea died at some point and Julia had Martha and Michael out of wedlock. Not sure if they would have been Lynches or some other name. It might be beneficial to scan the Milltown register to see if you can find records for Martha and Michael. If they were illegitimate, the priest would have annotated the record. http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0679

Hello Roger,
The rumor of the children being illegitimate maybe be just that - a rumor, however my experience is that there is usually some kernal of truth to those stories so I don't want to disregard it altogether. I am fairly certain that the marriage record from 1846 is theirs.
John didn't die until after 1860 as I have found John Shea with the children (without Julia) in the 1860 U.S. Census. They are living with other families with the last names of Farrell, Falvey and Prig or Big. I have looked for those families in the U.S. but realize that I should look for them in Ireland too.
In the 1870 U.S. Census I have found Julia and the children (without John). Assuming that he was the father of Julia's youngest child he would have died sometime after 1864-5 in the U.S.
You are right that the discovery of possibly Michael's baptism record in Milltown means I should expand my search to the surrounding areas.
I will try to attach the Census records to which I refer in case you should want to take a look, if you have the time. Maybe you will think of something I have missed.
Thanks again for your help.
