I am researching the O'Mara/O'Meara family who come from the townland of Corlea Beg, just to the north of Flagmount. I have just for the first time consulted the 1851 Census Search Forms and found one ancestor (John O'Mara) from Corlea Beg. The Search Form has been very useful in that it has introduced me to three more siblings who were the sons of William O'Mara and Ellen McMahon (including John). I am interested in contacting anyone else who may have knowledge of the O'Mara family. But my immediate query arises from the address given by John who applied for the search - Cloonagrow, Caher, Feakle. Can anyone tell me where Cloonagrow is located? My internet searches have revealed nothing! I would like to see the location on my next visit to Clare. (I am based in London UK). Peter MacMahon.

Peter:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I think you want Cloonnagro. I will alert a parish liaison from a neiboring parish who will give you more specific information.

I suspect the townland is Cloonnagro, as Roger has suggested. John's family in the 1901 & 1911 censuses:

You can find Cloonnagro on Griffiths maps.

Thank you that's very helpful. It seems that John moved to his wife's family farm on marriage. The Moroneys seem quite numerous in Cloonagro. John's age as given on the Census forms does not suggest he was 70 (the qualifying age for a pension) when he applied for a search in October, 1921 but this would be far from the first time that ages on Census forms are not quite right (usually underestimated I find!). Thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.
The townland is listed under the Placenames Database website and the link is below

The O'Mearas are still in the area. If you would like further information, you can email me at: jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com.
All the best,
Jane.
