Sketchy records in the US indicates a William and Catherine Grace in Monsea Parish, Tipperary had two children (that I know of): John Grace (b1810) and Julia (b1831). Somehow John and Julia both emigrated to America. The first record I have of them has them married in Lima, New York to another brother and sister, Martin and Catherine Eagan (or Egan). No idea if the Graces and Eagans knew each other in Tipperary or met in the US. Any help in connecting John and Julia to their parents, or if their spouses were from Tipperary as well would be appreciated.

Hi Tom . . . Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out . . .
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Griffiths Valuation ( 1847 - 1864) . . above . . shows a Wm.Grace . . SO . . within those years the Father figure would appear to be still a property owner for the purpose of Tax. . .
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNam…
__________________________________________________________________
Tithes Applotment ( Tax roll 1823 - 1837 ) . . . search . . is inconclusive . .
http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…
Whereas it shows 4 Wm. Grace's . . the districts are all SOUTH Tipperary . . .
GRACE is a surname common to Nenagh Town . . NORTH tTipperary
________________________________________________________
When I search Ancestry.Com (paid) . . . for JOHN . . . the first hits listed . . geographically are NOT near the Nenagh area..
When I search 'Roots ' (paid) . . . there are negatives to both John & Julia . . . ( his possibly has to do with Church records . . .not in being . . . or illegible )
I question the big seperation of BIRTH DATES . . between John/Julia . . it looks not normal . .
____________________________________________________________
IF and WHEN . . I search for a JOHN . . on Ancestry . . . with a birth-date closer to Julia . .
then I get a number of JOHN's . . . closer to the Nenagh area around the 1830'ies . . . But NO Julia
________________________________________________
Searching Roots . . . for Martin Egan ( b. 1810 +/- 5 yrs. ) . . Three (3) show up for Tipperary . . but not near Nenagh..
again . . Catherine . . . seven (7) hits in Tipperary . . . none near Nenagh . . . mostly Thurles Town and surrounds . . .
______________________________________________________
SO . . all the above . . . tends to suggest . . that the Egan's . . were born . . other than Tipperary County

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance . . .
You might . . redirect your query to . . the IRO Volunteer in the Nenagh area . . he is . .

Eammon, Many thanks for posting such a prompt and thorough reply. The age span between John and Julia does have me scrathching my head. I only have Julia's death certificate with her DOB and parent's names. I do not have the document for John since he died in 1893 and Michigan's online records start at 1897. Always more digging to do. Best, Tom

Hi Tom,
There are many 'Graces' to this day in the Monsea area including Knigh, Dromineer, puckane and the Nenagh area in general and they have being here for many generations. A very popular retired teacher/historian in the area is Danny Grace ,who actually taught me in school and he could be a relation of yours, there is nothing he doesn't know about the area and the local families. If you got in touch with ' Nora O'Meara,M.A Genealogist, The North Tipperary Genealogy Centre,The Governor's House, Kickham St., Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Phone: 00353 6733850 or E-mail: tipperarynorthgenealogy@eircom.net
Nora will do all she can for you and if you want she could put you in touch with Danny Grace. My own family 'kelly's' are from that area.
Anyway I found some info for you,
In the 'Ireland Valuation Office Books 1831-1856', I found a Land Assessment in 1848 in Monsea, Co. Tipperary for William Grace. Also another Land Assessment in 1846 in Monsea, Co. Tipperary.
In the ' Ireland Tithe Applotment Books 1814-1855', I found a Tax Assessment in 1825 in Monsea, Guertinowra, Co. Tipperary for William Grace and also a Tax Assessment in 1825 in Monsea, Crannagh, Co. Tipperary.
I also found in the' United States Census 1860', Martin Eagan birt 1827 Ireland residence 1860 Town of Lima, Livingston, New York and 'Others' associated with this person include John Eagan, William Eagan, Jeremiah Eagan, Julia Eagan and Margaret Eagan.
You have many relations here in and around Nenagh.
Hope this helps in some way,
Regards,
John Kelly. (Volunteer, Irelandxo).

Hi Tom,
Also in the 'Griffiths Valuation Books 1847-1864', which is a great of source of information when looking for people that owned or rented property/land. William Grace is there along with Patrick Grace, Martin, Ann, John, James, Michael, Matthew and Thomas all owning land in Monsea and probably, more than likely all related.
Regards,
John Kelly.
