Morarty family in Ballinvoher

I went back and looked again on www.irishgenealogy.ie and again did not find a record for Ellen. I did find an 1849 record for a Nell Moriarty in Muingreigh but different parents but the sponsor was Stephen Moriarty. I assume this Nell was a cousin to Ellen. Other than a manual review of the parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0658  I would have to assume the baptism for Ellen was not recorded for some reason.  I did find records for Jeremiah, Maurice, Denis, Joseph and Stephen.

One off the wall thought. Is it possible that the 1849 Nell is actually your Ellen. Maybe Nell's parents died young and she was raised by Stephen and his wife. Ellen could have changed her birth date when she came to America.

Sorry to be so long in responding....I had seen that record for Nell... and thought it was just an interesting coincidence that the sponsor was Stephen Moriarty.  However in just the last few weeks, I finally got a response from a woman on this site who lives in the US but knew my ancestor.  Her great grandmother is also Ellen and was a first cousin to my great-grandmother. So your assumption was correct! However I too began thinking about possible scenarios before I got this message and thought maybe Ellen had been someone else's child who was possibly adopted by my g-g-grandparents.  (watching too much telly!) :-)
