Greetings,
My gg grandfather Michael Pigott was reportly born in 1829 in Fermoy. He emigrated to NYC around 1849 and eventually moved to Ohio where he raised his family and where he died in 1908. Unfortunately we have no definitive documentation about his life in Ireland or about his Irish family. I have found Pigott's who lived in this part of Cork but can't tie them to my ancestor. Any help/guidance would be welcomed!

Questions: Do you have any of Michael's siblings' names? Do you know if they were R C? Are any of the parents' or siblings' names above used by Michael in the naming of his own children?

Thank you Col! I appreciate you providing this information. Yes, our Michael Pigott was definitely Catholic. I do not know any of his parents' or siblings' names but he used the following for his children: Bridget, Christine, William, Mary, Josephine, Anna, Michael, Margaret and Elizabeth.
I understand that Irish custom then was to name your first son after your father so that would seem to indicate the Barrack Hill Pigotts might be the parents but still speculation. This Mary Pigott is probably the one who had the tavern/pub on Patrick street in Fermoy.
There are two baptism records for a Michael Pigott in Kilworth as well from 1831. So four potential records and I'm not sure how to narrow it down.
Thanks again,

Hi JM,
If they followed the Irish naming pattern the parents would be William and Christine; I searched for that combination but no luck on rootsireland.ie/ I'm afraid
Not sure if I mentioned it before but www.irishgenealogy.ie/ is a free site which is good for Cork records
Cheers
