My G3 grandmother, Ellen Howard, was born in Clonaslee around 1839, according to her obituary. Her family went to England, most likely during the Famine years, and settled in the Liverpool area. She married James Holahan (Houlihan ?) and gave birth to George Richard around 1861 in Manchester. Sometime around 1866, she emigrated to the U.S., settling in Brooklyn, New York. I have found an Ellen Howard in the 1851 UK Census, living in Liverpool, but I am not certain the she is my ancestor. I am interested in seeing if there are any Howards in the Clonaslee area, as I would love to be able to trace at least one of my Irish ancestors back to Ireland. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Hi Roger, I have not heard anything back from the Clonaslee parish liason. We have just returned from 10 days touring the west of Ireland and the next visit will be east coast centric and I hope to visit the areas of my ancestors.
