Hi There,
I am researching my paternal great grandmother's family. Her name was Catherine Mullins. She was born in 1844 in the parish of Croagh. Catherine had a brother named John worn around 1841 and another older brother Thomas. Thomas had migrated to Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1858. Catherine and John joined him in Port Elizabeth in 1861.
That's all I know about Catherine and her family. I would love to know who her parents were and possibly what their story may have been in the records of Croagh.
The jpg attached is from a book by Esmé Bull, “Aided Immigration from Britain to South Africa, 1857-1867”, Human Sciences Research Council, 1991, pgs 438-439
Thank You,
Tony

The Croagh RC baptismal records start in 1836 and marriages in 1844. Here is a link to the parish register.

I went on Roots Ireland and located a baptismal record for Catherine in 1844 and records for two older sisters Alice and Margaret. Father was Stephen and mother Margaret Hayes. Did not come up with John or Thomas but you may want to scan the parish register.

Wow, Thank You so much, Roger! :-) That's awesome!
I am presently writing up Catherine's story after she arrived in the Cape Colony. If it were of interest to you I can post her story here.
Thank you once again,
Tony
