Since posting this thread I've made contact with your aunt Eileen and, indirectly, with your mother. I'm researching the Bane line for two of their relatives, Helene in California and Val in Australia, who are granddaughters of two of your grandfather's brothers (and are your second cousins).

We've gathered a lot of data on the family and have sent some of it to Eileen, including a comprehensive tree, and both she and Angela have been of enormous assistance to us. May I suggest you contact them - coincidentally Eileen and I emailed only this afternoon!
