Hi My name is Delwyn Bergman and I live in Australia.
My Great Great Grandfather was John Mahoney/O'Mahoney who was born somewhere between 1833 and 1835. He emigrated to Melbourne Vic Australia approximately 1853 or 1854.
He married in Kilmore Vic on the 21st January 1855 to Ellen Fitzpatrick. On his marriage certificate he says that he was born in Ballylanders. He also said that his parents were John Mahoney a publican and Bridget Ahern. He died in 1898 in Bendigo Vic. On one of his children's birth certificate he gave the information again that he was born in Ballylanders Limerick.
Can anyone help me locate his baptism in Ballylanders or information on his parents.
Regards
Delwyn

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Unfortunately, the RC baptismal records for Ballylanders start in 1842 and marriages in 1848. I did search on Roots Ireland to see if there were any younger siblings with baptisms on Roots but no success. I also searched unsuccessfully for a marriage record.
The 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ballylanders civil parish does show two John Mahoney entries in Ballyfauskeen townland. Possibly the older John is the father of your John.

You may want to consider adding John's story to our XO Chronicles site https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
You also may want to consider autosomal DNA testing.
