My great grandfather John Murtagh was born in 1878 in Killalugh, he died in 1940 in Dublin and is buried with his wife Mary and daughter Teresa in Church of St. Livinius Graveyard, Killulagh.

Cathy:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Here is the civil birth record for John in 1878.
He had six siblings as follows:
Denis 1870 William 1871 Owen 1876 James 1880 Mary 1882 Catherine 1885
The parents Owen and Catherine were married April 8, 1869 in the Delvin RC church.
Below are the 1901 and 1911 census records for the family. Owen died in 1902 and Catherine in 1918.

Hi Cathy!
Since they were married in Delvin likely that would be Catherine's home parish. I looked at Roots Ireland and there was an 1840 baptismal record in Delvin church. 1840 would match the age in the 1901 census although many times census ages were not accurate. I did not see an Owen Murtagh baptismal record around 1830 anywhere in Westmeath.
I did not see a civil marriage record for the couple which if a record exists, it would show the names of the fathers of Owen and Catherine.
Likely they are buried at the Killulagh parish church.

Hi ..... as this post is from 2017, I'm just going to reply to the post in the hope that there might be some new info. Inquiring on behalf of John's son Owen's family (Christopher). I am unable to find or confirm any details about any of the rest of John's siblings. Not sure if they stayed in the area or not.
We have been to the Killulagh graveyard but it was a newish one. There were a few Murtaghs there but hard to prove any connections. Are the graveyard inscriptions online?
Thanks in advance. Any help appreciated.

Wendy:
I found this info online and likely you saw these headstones when you visited the graveyard. http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/westmeath/photos/tombstones/westmeath-killulagh/index.html
Maybe you should contact Kev Murray and seeif he can assist further.

Hi Roger, thank you for your reply. Is that someone local that does research? Years ago we visited a Willie Murtagh which was probably his brother Willie. He lived close to the church.
Hi Cathy,, yes. Through their son Christopher Owen known as Owen. I haven’t been able to confirm anything about Denis, William, Catherine or James so I’m looking to find any info there. My husband would be John and Mary’s grandson. Thanks, Wendy
