Looking for info on Charles Orpen (gggrandfather) supposedly born between 1808 and 1815 in Stradbally, County Kerry (from death record). Know the surname is common in the area, and am suspicious that he may have been illegitimate. Only other record I've located is his marriage record in Lismore, County Waterford in 1837 (no parents recorded) to a Jane McKnight of Villierstown, Waterford.
I have a photo of him and his family at their residence Lackendarra Lodge, Ballynamult, Waterford, taken in the late 1800s. Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I assume Charles was Church of Ireland? See this link which covers the availability of Church of Ireland registers and where located. Looks like the records for the time period of your interest were destroyed in 1922. https://www.ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/registers…
Can I suggest that you post a story and picture about Charles on our XO Chronicles site. Perhaps someone will recognize the family connection.

Thanks very much Roger. Yes, I believe he was C of I. Have now posted a photo and what background I know on the XO Chronicles site (awaiting moderation). Fingers crossed someone can give me some clues as Charles' details have been very elusive!

Hi, the photo is included in Charles Orpen's details. Only shows window of building behind the assembled family.
