John Sheedy was born 1840 and baptised Galbally and Arherlow Limerick. His parents were John Sheedy and Margaret Dalton. He came to Australia in 1864 on the Sir Robert Sale with his sister Bridget Sheedy from Carrickroache Galbally Limerick. He married Johanna Fahey in Sydney Australia in 1871. Johanna Fahey came to Australia in 1866 on the Peerless with her brother Richard Fahey. They were from Slohmill Powerstown Tipperary,parents were Timothy Fahey and Honora Ryan.
I would to hear from anyone who has a connection to these familes.

Hello Liz, I have just joined this site and noticed your Message. My interest is Michael Sheedy who arrived in Australia aboard the Lascar in 1841. He was born C1810 in Galbally Aherlow to Michael Sheedy and Margaret nee Walsh/Welsh. He named one of his children John and another Honora. Just wondering if there is a connection between these families. I have been unable to find any other information regarding the Irish born ancestors of these people. These Sheedy's settled in the Canberra/Queanbeyan area of Australia. Cheers Katherine Bishop
