Hello from New York. I have a Baptism record from The Ireland Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915. Kilbride and Mountnugent, Westmeath and Meath and Cavan, Ireland - Thanks to Col, from the Message Boards.
Baptized on July 2, 1832, Father -Terence, Mother - Ann Sheridan. It's possibly my great grandfather Bryan/ Bernard McGaughran or one of his siblings. I believe Bryan emigrated to New York City in the 1850's or early 1860's. I first find him listed as a Mason. He married Catherine (Katherine) Smith (Smyth), in New York City, but this may have been his 2nd marriage, her first. Bryan and Catherine had two children, Bernard, who died in infancy and Rose Ann, my beloved paternal grandmother, b. 1875 - 1962 New York City. Bryan died in New York City 1885.
I also have a Marriage record for Terrence and Ann Sheridan Ireland, Catholic Parish registers, 1655-1915. Marriage date, June 3, 1820. Location - Oldcastle, Meath, Ireland. Terence Gaughran & Anne Sheridan - present Judith M. Dermott and Owen Gaughran
Does anyone have any more information, geneaology records for either of these two families? I'm hoping visit Ireland in June 2018.
Thank you. Mary Beth W. DiMarco

Mary Beth:
Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!
I went back and looked at your prior message and Col's replies (He is still working on the message board). The area where your McGaughrans were from is where the three counties (Cavan, Meath and Westmeath) meet and Co. Longford is not far away. The RC parish covers areas from all three counties so it is difficult to pinpoint where they lived exactly. Baptismal records start in 1832 so likely Bernard/Bryan had older siblings but records are not available. I did check on Roots Ireland and there were no siblings recorded after Bernard/Bryan. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0944
The Sheridans were from Oldcastle in Meath and not far away from Kilbride/Mountnugent. I looked at the 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Oldcastle civil parish and there were four Sheridans listed http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/meath/oldcastle.htm Possibly there is a connection to where Ann came from.
Have you considered autosomal DNA testing?
You can also post Bernard/Bryan's story on our XO Chronicles site https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…
Let us know when you finalize your trip and possibly we can locate a volunteer in the area.

Thank you very much Roger. I’ll look over your notes and links. I’ve done Ancestry DNA, which shows 45% Irish, 43% British and then Western European, Germany. I will post in the XO Chronical, as suggested. I’ll let you know about my plans to visit.
All the best, Mary Beth

I fly out on 7/4. I need suggesstions as exactly what town I should travel to, Oldcastle, perhaps? And can some one recomened a B & B close to the bus station? Thanks, Mary Beth
