hi
Ellen McAuliffe was the mother of henry & thomas McAuliffe convicted for 7 years to Tasmania, search NLI griffiths valuation gives zero results for correct area, but familysearch website griffiths does.house & garden just south of Ballyfauskeen crossroads, Ballyfauskeen town land, Ballylanders Parish. this where the newspaper reports of their trial, the prosecutors witness stated the chase led them to this locality. oral history said 7 brothers no sisters & we have no names. there is a Patrick McAuliffe with illigitimate baby 23 april 1835 in Galbally parish, this butts up against Ballyfauskeen. 1852 records show John Mahoney has taken over house and garden and we have no idea of what happened to rest of the brothers except oral to australia. cannot get a trace of them. the family tree of these brothers is detailed to present day

Dear Michael:
Thank you for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board and welcome to the site!
If you have found that there was a McAuliffe in Griffith's Valuation that matches with your family, but that John Mahony later resides there, it would seem that you will probably need to do some research with the Revision Books for Griffith's Valuation which are held at the Valuation Office in Dublin. The Revision books record all the changes to the property from the Original Valuation.
In addition, it sounds as if you have some newspaper research done about your ancestor's case. Would you be willing to create a Timeline Event for this? You can do so through the XO Chronicles (located at the top of the page). It may also assist with your research as others may be researching the same family.
You have not given a date of sentence or transportation for Ellen. If you would do so, as well as her husband (or the father of her two sons), that would be a great help.
Please get back to me if you have any difficulties with any of the above. My direct email is: jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com
Kind regards,
Jane.
