Hi. I am searching for details of my grandparents John and Mary Scanlon (Gallagher). They had 3 children Bridget, John(Sonny) and Edward (Ted) my father. My father Ted married my mother Lily Convey but I’m not sure whether that was in London or in Ireland.

I couldn't find the marriage on www.rootsireland.ie/ but did so on free UK BMD:
Surname Given Name Spouse District Volume Page
Marriages Jun 1937
ScanlonEdward PConveyBirmingham6d1209
The district Birmingham is in the county of Warwickshire; information about it can be found here
John & Mary's marriage is on roots:
Date of Marriage:27-Feb-1908
Parish / District:CARRACASTLE
County:MAYO
Husband John Scanlon Address Cloontia Denomination:Roman Catholic
Wife Mary Gallagher Address: Cloonlarhin Roman Catholic
Husband's Father Matthew Scanlon
Wife's Father: John GallagherWitness 1Thomas Scanlon
Witness 2 Bridget GallagherCarracastle is 25km from Killasser so I'm hoping this is the correct record; if it is the correct marriage (which mostly took place in bride's parish if different from groom's) then this is a possible baptism for John senior:
Name:John ScanlonDate of Birth:25-May-1874
Registration Date:06-Jun-1874Address:CloontiaParish/District:LOWPARK DISTRICTGender:MaleCountyMAYO
Denomination:Roman Catholic
Father:Mathew ScanlonMother:Bridget ConwayNo luck with parents' marriage
This looks like it could be Ted in the 1911 Irish Census:
Residents of a house 8 in Claremorris (Claremorris, Mayo)
Scanlon Edward 30 Male Head of Family Roman Catholic
Scanlon Delia 24 Female Wife Roman Catholic
Scanlon John 2 Male Son Roman Catholic
Scanlon Edward Male Son Roman Catholic
You may like to have a closer look at the censuses which are free online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/ as there are quite a few Scanlons in Mayo in the 1901 & 1911 censuses
