Patrick Kane (1810-1893) born in Tuamgraney, died in Ballymalone. Bridget (Biddy) Murray (1811-1892), died in Tulla. They were wed on February 17, 1833 in the parish of Bodyke in Kilnoe. Known children, through research and family lore, John (1833), Bridget (1836),Denis (1838), Margaret (1841), Cornelius (1844 -1914. Last name listed as Caine when he died in Victoria,Austrailia ),Patrick (1848-1893), possibly Ellen (1848), Mary (1849-1923),Catherine (Kate, born about1852-1927. Maiden name listed as Keane at death. Married name was Dooley). And there could be others.
Concentrating on Cornelius. His life is well documented in Australia, but I can not find any mention of him in Ireland. I am related to the Dooley side. I am in contact with a direct relation to Cornelius who is trying desperately to trace his family tree back to Ireland with the names of his siblings and parents. So Cornelius is the family lore part. What I have written down could be right but I can not find any records in Ireland to confirm this. So it could also be wrong.
Ireland Reaching Out has been a gold mine for me. If not for you, I would still have thousands of genealogy questions. Now, I simply have hundreds.
Thank you and keep up the good work. -Kathleen Logue

Fáilte Kathleen!
Cornelius' actual name was very likely Conchubhair Ó Catháin (aka Conor Keane). Latinisation of baptism records is what brought the "Cornelius" upon the given names Conor and Cormac (standards applied varied from priest to priest). So, expect him turn up in records here in a variety of ways such as Con, Connie, Conny, Coneily, Connor, Cor, Corly, Neil, Neal, Neily, Nohor ... or even Neilus.
You can find some helpful info on KEANE ancestry here (by way of the KEANEs of Kilnamona, Co. Clare). Kilnamona (albeit a different parish to Tulla) was a Keane stronghold that also branched out to Australia.
Best of luck!

There is another person who has done a lot of research on this family and I'm going to forward your post to her as she will be able to answer some of your questions and hopefully you can collaborate together.
Thank you for your interest in Ireland Reaching Out. I'm hoping that you are aware of the Clare Library website.
